Watch Out Pueblo – Here We Come

We left Buena Vista and headed back East to just South of Pueblo, CO to stay on my Cousin Dranon & Audra’s ranch they run.

I started the stay by installing a new MaxxAire fan and two rain covers over the exhaust fans.

We did a little bit of everything from hunting coyotes, taking care of a few rattlesnakes to exploring the surrounding area. We started by exploring the Bishop Castle in Rye, CO ( https://www.bishopcastle.org/ ). If you have never been there before, you should add it to your stop when in the area. You can crawl all around the castle, at your own risk, and enjoy some spectacular views in the process. One interesting thing we found walking around was my neighbors (and high school principal) when I was young had a donation stained glass in their names. Pretty cool to see.

While staying with them, we went to dinner at The Dog Bar in Cuchara, CO – must go place if you have the chance. The drive getting there was beautiful with columns of rock jutting up out of the landscape. Dogs are more than welcome at the dog bar, even though this time we had left ours behind at home.

What is a trip to the Colorado Springs/Pueblo area without making a visit to Cripple Creek? We did a little gambling, walked the streets and visited the Molly Kathleen mine. Word of caution, if you are remotely claustrophobic – do not go down the Molly Kathleen mine shaft for the tour. A can of sardines are not packed as tight as you get stuffed into the shaft elevator!

We wrapped up the visit by attending the Renaissance Festival for some turkey legs, beer and jousting! As you can see, Audra was ready for the event!
